Doug Kennedy

Doug is a versatile artist whose work spans sculpture, painting, drawing, and intricate craft. With a unique background in automotive restoration, Doug transitioned to the art world over 25 years ago, completing his formal art training at UCOL in Palmerston North.

Known primarily for his powerful, large-scale sculptures, Doug has been a prominent presence at numerous sculpture events across Aotearoa, including the Waitakaruru Arboretum, Sculpture on the Peninsula, Wildflower Sculptures in the Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa Sculptures in the Gardens, and Sculpture on the Shore. His international exhibitions include the celebrated Sculptures by the Sea in Cottesloe, Western Australia.

Now based in Masterton, Doug’s creative practice is once again expanding as he returns to the art scene after a period focused on projects closer to home. His work is a dynamic blend of scale, precision, and imagination.
